Clasen Cup
The Clasen Cup is a traveling trophy awarded to the member club with the lowest team score for 36 holes during the State Public Links championship. Team scores are determined by recording, for each member club, the best three scores by its players for 18 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday.
The Cup is named after 5 time publinks champion Al Clasen, a Minnesota Hall of Fame golfer who won many state-wide championships in the 40's, 50's and early 60's.
"At 19 Al Clasen borrowed a set of clubs and won the 1935 Amateur at Somerset. Thirty-nine summers later he was fighting to win his sixth Public Links title. A champion and prime contender for four decades, durability was the secret weapon of the St. Paul Eastsider."
